I recently installed a Power Sonic PDC-12140 Deep Cycle Sealed Lead Acid Battery in my fire alarm system, but I’m encountering some issues. The battery doesn’t seem to hold its charge properly, and the system keeps reporting low battery warnings. What could be causing this problem, and how can I troubleshoot it?

Firstly, ensure that the battery is connected properly, with the correct polarity. Double-check all connections and ensure they are tight and secure.

If the connections are fine, the issue might lie with the battery itself. Deep cycle batteries like the Power Sonic PDC-12140 are designed for repeated deep discharge and recharge cycles, but they can still degrade over time.

Try performing a capacity test on the battery to assess its health. If the capacity is significantly lower than expected, it may need to be replaced. Additionally, check for any signs of physical damage or leaks on the battery casing, as this could indicate a problem.

If the battery appears to be in good condition but still isn’t holding its charge, consider checking the charging system of your fire alarm panel. Faulty charging circuits or settings could prevent the battery from charging properly.

If troubleshooting these steps doesn’t resolve the issue, it might be best to contact Power Sonic customer support or consult with a professional technician for further assistance.
