I’ve been using the FX-PD for a while now, but I’ve heard about the new Kidde KIR-PD in the “New Offerings” category. Can anyone shed some light on the differences between the two? Is it worth replacing my FX-PD with the KIR-PD?

Certainly! As a technician at firealarm.com, I can provide some insights. The Kidde KIR-PD is indeed a newer offering and comes with some notable improvements over the FX-PD. Firstly, the KIR-PD boasts enhanced sensitivity, allowing it to detect smaller particles of smoke more effectively. Additionally, it features improved false alarm resistance, reducing the likelihood of unnecessary disruptions. Furthermore, the KIR-PD incorporates advanced communication capabilities, facilitating easier integration into modern fire alarm systems.

While the FX-PD has been a reliable choice, upgrading to the KIR-PD can provide you with better performance and compatibility with newer technologies. Ultimately, whether it’s worth replacing your FX-PD depends on your specific needs and budget. However, if you’re looking for superior detection capabilities and enhanced reliability, the Kidde KIR-PD is certainly a compelling option to consider.
