Hi all, I’ve been experiencing some trouble with my Power Sonic PS-12180B rechargeable sealed lead acid battery. It doesn’t seem to hold a charge as long as it used to, and sometimes it fails to power my device altogether. Any tips on troubleshooting this issue?

    Hey there,

When dealing with issues like this with rechargeable sealed lead acid batteries, there are a few common troubleshooting steps you can take to address the problem:

Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the battery for any physical damage such as leaks, bulging, or corrosion. If you notice any, it’s a clear sign that the battery needs to be replaced.

Verify Charging Conditions: Ensure that the battery is being charged properly and in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines. Improper charging can significantly reduce the battery’s lifespan.

Assess Usage Patterns: Consider the usage patterns of the battery. Over time, batteries naturally degrade, especially if they’ve undergone frequent deep discharges or overcharging.

Test Battery Voltage: Using a multimeter, measure the voltage of the battery when fully charged and under load. A significant drop in voltage indicates that the battery may be nearing the end of its life cycle.

Consider Environmental Factors: Extreme temperatures can affect the performance of sealed lead acid batteries. Ensure that the battery is stored and used within the recommended temperature range.

If after performing these troubleshooting steps you’re still experiencing issues, it’s likely time to replace the battery. Remember to dispose of the old battery properly, following local regulations for recycling or hazardous waste disposal.

    Hope this helps!
