I'm looking for a fire extinguisher for use in an automobile. I see many on the market but figured this would be a good place to get a unbiased opinion, as some of the models vary in price greatly. Never thought to keep a fire extinguisher in my car until I saw a roadside fire yesterday, and I figured it's better to be on the safe side.
Hey Rebecca, keeping a fire extinguisher handy in your vehicle is a great way to prevent a small fire from becoming unmanageable, as you may have witnessed. For automobile use, the NFPA recommends an extinguisher which covers both Class B and C fire types; a Class B fire involves flammable liquids, and a Class C fire involves live electrical equipment. It's a general rule of thumb that you keep the extinguisher mounted / strapped in your trunk, as to keep it from moving around. I'll link a highly regarded First Alert fire extinguisher below. This one is designed specifically for automobile usage, is rechargeable by certified professional, and comes with a secure mounting bracket. Hopefully this helps!
