I recently purchased a Kidde-Fenwal KS-PS, an Intelligent Photoelectric Smoke Detector head only. Can anyone guide me on how to properly install it?

Certainly! Installing the Kidde-Fenwal KS-PS Intelligent Photoelectric Smoke Detector is relatively straightforward. First, ensure you have all the necessary tools and equipment, including a ladder, screwdriver, and wire stripper. Then, follow these steps:

Locate the Mounting Location: Choose a suitable location on the ceiling or wall, following the manufacturer’s guidelines for spacing and placement.
Prepare the Mounting Surface: Ensure the mounting surface is clean and free of any obstructions. If necessary, use anchors or screws to secure the detector.
Connect the Wiring: If you’re replacing an existing detector, disconnect the old one and remove it from the base. Connect the wires from the new KS-PS detector to the existing wiring, ensuring proper polarity.
Attach the Detector Head: Align the detector head with the mounting base and twist it into place until it clicks securely.
Test the Detector: Once installed, perform a system test to ensure the detector is functioning correctly. You can use the test button on the detector or initiate a test from your fire alarm control panel.
Document the Installation: It’s essential to keep records of all installations for maintenance and compliance purposes. Document the installation date, location, and any relevant details for future reference.
Remember to consult the user manual provided by Kidde-Fenwal for specific installation instructions and safety precautions. If you encounter any difficulties or have further questions, don’t hesitate to reach out for assistance.
